Onexun Architects WonderLab’s office design in Shenzhen, China incorporates bright blue and corporate values.
WonderLab is a nutritional supplement brand established in 2019 with the aim of improving people’s health. The company is committed to providing innovative nutritional solutions to young consumers. ‘Wonder’ in the brand name means breakthrough, and ‘Lab’ means scientific and professional expertise.
The design is inspired by Wonderlab’s core corporate values and brand style, and reflects the concept of sustainable development emphasized today. Inspired by the company’s campaign to recycle blue bottles of probiotic supplement products, Onexn Architects incorporated the concept of recycling into the project by applying recycled materials to the display installation design. The goal was to create a pleasant surprise with a touch of blue in the background that emphasizes science and precision.
Site conditions: WonderLab’s new headquarters office is located on the upper floors of a Grade A office building in MixC World, Shenzhen, with expansive city views. With a floor plan that takes into consideration the landscape and lighting, an open work area was placed around the perimeter, and functional boxes were placed around the core tube. This design ensures a rational and efficient functional layout with clear circulation, in line with the company’s R&D philosophy that emphasizes science, precision and efficiency.
Meanwhile, the space is divided into different areas based on the number of employees and their roles. Ample space is also reserved for the company’s future expansion needs. The overall design features an open layout that allows employees to move freely, interact and collaborate. In addition, multi-tier office and meeting spaces have been created to accommodate diverse work scenarios.
1. “Flowing” blue blocks
The space design integrates Wonderlab’s signature colors and uses blue blocks to connect different levels in the space. The design is inspired by Zima, the main character in the animated video “Zima Blue”. Zima pursued ultimate purity in art and finally found the meaning of her life in her last work. A primal curiosity enables continuous exploration. In this project, the designers placed blue blocks in different dimensions in the space, giving different meanings to the color blue.
The front area is characterized by simple and clean horizontal lines. Provides an even and bright lighting environment for an area with an expansive light film.
2. Blue Surprise
Designers transformed WonderLab’s iconic Little Blue Bottle and Little Fat Bottle into abstract symbols, then deconstructed these symbols and incorporated them into the spatial design, creating delightful surprises at various positions in the space. .
The blue sofa module is an abstract representation of WonderLab’s Little Blue Bottle. These structures provide a space for rest while also conveying the design concept of the Little Blue Bottle: a creative opening and a simple, unified Klein Blue body.
The conversation area is like a container floating in space. It breaks boundaries and allows dialogue to occur between different realms.
Exhibition walls provide a space for Wonderlab employees to unleash their creativity. At the company’s various events, the Little Blue Bottle pixels can be used to create different patterns on the exhibition walls. The design is also a metaphor for the infinite possibilities of the collection of pixels in the Little Blue Bottle.
The leisure area is surrounded by blue sofa modules and exhibition walls. The center table features smooth edges. Combined with plants, it provides a space where staff can work and talk freely.
Installation using recycled materials
In keeping with the company’s recycling efforts, the design team created a logo wall made from recycled Little Blue bottles. The design not only helps the company’s customers and employees better understand the brand, but it also creates an extension of WonderLab’s Recycle He campaign.
As a central element, the outline of the Little Fat Bottle is magnified by a layer of luminous acrylic plates to enhance the visual impact of the brand’s iconic symbol and brand identity.
3. Rational and efficient spatial layout
Meeting rooms of various sizes are arranged along a circular route around the core tube. Efficient circulation makes space movement easier for employees working in open office areas. Meanwhile, the streamlined design reflects the company’s philosophy of focusing on science and precision.
Onexn Architects strongly believes that this space design will not only enhance WonderLab’s brand image and competitiveness, but also support the public initiative of low-carbon and eco-friendly lifestyles through sustainable development and recycling practices. In addition to human health, it is equally important to prioritize the health of the environment that sustains humanity.
