Sustainability is all the rage these days, and it’s starting to influence our shopping habits, especially when it comes to buying home goods and things to beautify our everyday spaces. As we become more aware of our role and responsibility to better care for each other and the environment, we are moving away from a culture of ‘fast homeware’. This is why I love Wild Republic, a local brand that shares my passion.

Grab your Cuppa and let us introduce you to the team behind Wild Republic.

Say hello to Tallinn

Tallinn is the founder of the Wild Republic! Lives in Cape Town with her husband Morne and her two cats (Nacho and Sadie). Plus, Taryn is a self-proclaimed serious foodie, and she boos along with it. She loves to travel, she tries new restaurants and eats braai with her friends and family. Her background is in law and she has worked in the corporate world for over 10 years. But with her innate creative passion, Tarryn has launched her line of boldly designed homewares with the theme of ‘beach meets jungle’.

After searching the Internet for suppliers, she is discouraged by the idea of importing cheap goods from China or elsewhere. Tallinn explains: Household goods is an industry that has boomed in recent years since the pandemic that has created greater investment in the home environment. As the industry grows, so does the new problem of fast homeware. The focus is on the fast fashion industry and its impact on the environment and factory workers, but not on the fast homeware industry. This is why we decided to launch Wilde His Republic, a platform that helps conscious consumers discover ethical brands in the home goods industry. ”

support craftsmen

Wild Republic is a curated store dedicated to supporting artisans with beautiful and sustainable homeware and gifts. The team seeks suppliers that produce quality products, prioritize fair wages over profits, and have an impact on the environment and society.

“We hand select each product to make sure it’s boldly designed and ethically made while remaining affordable. In addition to supporting our amazing suppliers, Nature is represented by our brand ambassador, Murph the Monkey, who lives greener, Thank you for your efforts in saving Murph from a world without coconuts.”

what do you offer?

Wild Republic offers a selection of luxurious Turkish towels, bowls and more. Let’s take a closer look…

Wild Republic – Turkish Towel

Wild Republic Turkish Towels are handwoven in Turkey from 100% organic cotton, making them super soft and absorbent. These towels weigh only 300g and roll into a small ball, making them the perfect travel companions. It can be used for many purposes such as beach towels, bath towels, sarongs, throws and scarves. It dries quickly, no need to dry yourself with a soggy towel. Additionally, they come in seven plush designs, and Wild Republic plans to expand the range soon to include more designs than just hand towels and throw blankets.

Wild Republic – Ship

Wild Republic vases are sourced from Eswatini and are made from paper pulp made from upcycled magazines. Our supplier, Quazi Design, was born out of a partnership between designers and local magazine vendors to create much-needed jobs in Eswatini. We want to change the perception of upcycled materials. Here, discarded magazines and newspapers are reborn into original designs using only your hands and the sun’s rays. Quazi Design adheres to fair trade principles and empowers women artisans in our community. Paper pulp vessels are simple yet gorgeous decorations that can be displayed as they are, or you can put dried flowers or fruits in them depending on the vessel.
