A story that highlights how difficult it is to choose the best kitchen designer for a room.
It’s hard to decide who is the best kitchen designer in Philadelphia. This story about a few kitchen designers shows why.
One Saturday, I was having an open house at the showroom where I used to work. The 5,000-square-foot exhibit area was packed with visitors, as well as his 10 designers who worked at the company. A few designers mingled in to answer questions, and about five of us sat in the middle of the showroom talking among ourselves, casually looking around to see if anyone needed help.

Apparently we weren’t that observant. Because we suddenly realized that there was a customer in our little circle who was quietly listening. I looked down and said, “Miss, I’m sorry I didn’t notice, can any of us help you?”
The customer thought for a moment and said: “I don’t know if anyone can help. Is it okay if I really don’t know what design I want for my kitchen? What style of cabinets do you want?” I was a little surprised to see him laugh.
I smiled and said to her, “Lady, we’re not laughing at you. You’re every kitchen designer’s favorite type of customer, and we all work with people who are very open to our ideas.” We are laughing because we want to work with you and you may have trouble thinking which of us will work with you.
“I don’t want to start a fight,” she said. “And you spotted me first, so can you help me? I hope you’re one of the best designers.” Again, all the designers started laughing. “So what are you laughing at?” she asked.
I held out my hand and said, ‘My name is Paul. I think.” So everyone started laughing and it turned out that the new customer’s name was Colleen.
