If you like easy and cute springtime projects using wallpaper and scrapbook paper, this is the project for you! I wanted to make a cute paper project. I wanted to make something with plants that would brighten up the inside of the pot. I thought upcycling old wallpaper scraps into butterflies was a cute way to bring in spring and use extra vintage wallpaper scraps from other projects I had on hand!
You will need some tools to create these cute paper butterfly decorations for your plants.Templates provided below butterfly cutouts for your own personal use There is also
To make butterfly wings, first fold the wallpaper in half and place the cut template on the origami paper. This allows you to cut off both sides of the wings at the same time, creating a complete butterfly. Cut along the edge of the template to create the base layer for the butterfly wings. Repeat for the second matching wing.
Once the matching sides are cut out, glue the dowel stick to the center of the wallpaper butterfly and glue the other side up.
Pick the next size butterfly wing down, cut it out the same way you did the other wings, and glue it to the first two wings in the center. If the wings don’t seem bent in the right direction, fold them in the opposite direction.
Repeat and cut out the third set of wings and glue them on top as well. This gives the layered effect of stacked butterfly wings. I used a different template, but you can use the same one. Let dry completely and add to your favorite planters.
These are super cute and I think the whole collection is great.
It was a lot of fun to combine wallpaper patterns.
