A TikTok video of an apartment tour of a Central Park-adjacent property has made everyone question the skyrocketing rents in New York City and their ability to pay for them.
In this video, a real estate agent tours a second floor apartment. It has the facilities you would expect from an apartment in the area. There are four bedrooms, four bathrooms, a walk-in closet, a kitchen with island and wraparound counters, a living room with a fireplace and, of course, views of Central Park.
How much does it cost to rent such a prime location? Well, it’s 250,000 yen a month.
Many people in the comments section made fun of the exorbitant price. A commenter who heard the sirens in the video said, “If it’s 25,000 yen a month, you shouldn’t listen to the sirens.”
Another added, “$25,000 x 12 months = $300,000 a year.” It’s just rented. That’s Titanic submoney, dude. ”
Others are “interested.” We need 25 roommates. ”
Others agreed with what they thought the rent would be between $5,000 and $15,000. they are not wrong. According to data from rentable.co, the average rent for a four-bedroom in New York City is $7,460. In other cities, the same number of bedrooms will cost an average of $2,750. LAaverage $6,170 San Francisco.
This proves that rents in New York are generally higher than elsewhere in the country. Especially if you plan to live near the city’s most famous park.
