Two years later
At some point, I think that the living room needs specially selected furniture. However, we are working on the big furniture decisions over time until the overall design is more solidified. We haven’t planned out all the detailed designs for this space, but we definitely want the skylights, beams, and architectural trim on the walls to be in contrasting colors. We also considered replacing the fireplace with a large arched window like we had in our previous home, but in the end decided to keep the fireplace. The current factory is very attractive and beautiful, but they may upgrade to marble.

When it comes to changing layouts, I can’t think of anything other than two identical sofas facing each other. The room is too symmetrical to mess around with, and I want to completely hug it. Somehow I have to bring a large leather armchair from the bonus room. Because it’s Chris’ favorite seat in the house and this is the room that’s really central to everything we do.
I also hung this giant new framed canvas paintings I hope this room will always be here regardless of what you do with it.
