Project Outline:
The showroom was designed by Kuchar, a women-owned boutique based in Chicago. Project designer Rachel Benitez said the space draws inspiration from the dynamic Fulton Market district and its industrial roots.
“The space is surrounded by floor-to-ceiling windows, so it’s surrounded by natural light, downtown views, city life, and the constant movement of the former industrial district. It creates a clean backdrop that gently nods to the character of the region, a beauty that truly celebrates the floor,” Benitez said.
To celebrate Design Days 2023 across the Fulton Market district from June 12-14, Tarquet’s Fulton Market showroom will become Co.Lab™, featuring the brand’s latest collaborative collections and hands-on Specializing in artistic activities.
After two years of working remotely, Turkett has noticed a growing desire to reconnect as more people transition to hybrid work styles that better support their overall well-being. Tarkett’s Collaboration It was this process of building and creating together as individuals that inspired his collections.
The new collection is the result of a collaborative mark-making process led by O’Moray Simmons, Vice President of Commercial Business Design at Tarquet. A former art educator, Simmons has experience guiding designers in technology and concept development, transforming art into products. That process is evident in the collection’s design patterns, created by layering, integrating, and transforming the marks of various team members into something far greater than the sum of its parts.
“In creating this collection, our goal was to celebrate hyper-collaboration through collaborative artwork,” says Simmons. “We set out to do some hands-on research—making marks, spraying and brushing watercolors, stacking papers. We shared our steps, selected each other’s work to blend with ours, and provided feedback along the way.”
