I’m always looking for moments of connection in my designs,” says Shea. The ceiling and trim are finished in Sherwin-Williams ivory lace.



Inside the spec home laundry room
“The floor here is one of the highlights of the whole house,” says Shea as she steps into the space. Underfoot is a checkered pattern of Calacatta marble and limestone tiles. “We wanted to move away from the gray and white, or black and white, we’ve seen so often,” she explains.
The walls are clad in natural tan beadboard by Sherwin Williams and the cabinets are in a dark shade, Sand Beach by Sherwin Williams. There are small touches here and there to create dramatic developments. Black stone countertops line the walls for a backsplash, Rejuvenation polished brass cupboard latches elevate the cabinets, and curved brackets add sophistication to the exposed shelves. Shea and the design team took advantage of the space under the sink in the farmhouse to give the room an elevated traditional design touch. “This little curtain is a style we love right now,” Shea added. “Nostalgia is always cool, but it feels especially cool now.” See her other design trends we’ll be watching in 2023.
The laundry room is “a great opportunity to be bold and customize,” says Shea.

Inside the Spec Home mudroom
The mudroom is “the most beautiful shade of green,” Shea exclaims of the Sherwin Williams forest wood color that covers the entire room, adding, “The window wall is my favorite. I love the light it brings. The same limestone floors as the home’s foyer are used throughout this space.Maggie & Companies Hopper indoor/outdoor rug “I love that the gray color of the rug has a greenish/bluish tint to it that blends really well with the cabinetry,” Shea adds.

These of Rejuvenation were decided considering the scale of the door and the functionality of the space. “It’s very practical to pull a car in an area like this where there’s a lot of traffic,” Shea explains.
“When designing a mudroom, we always ask our clients how many lockers they need,” Shea explains. Considering that just outside this room is a dedicated coat-his closet, Shea and the design team decided to mix cabinets between closed and open. “It gives you a place to sit and put your shoes on,” she added.
