Studio G Architects was commissioned by Hines to refresh the lobby and amenity spaces of Santa Clara Towers in Santa Clara, California. Hines hired Studio G Architects to modernize the Santa He Clara Towers, a 445,000-square-foot site consisting of twin 11-story Class A office towers. The goal was to create a vibrant, energetic place to work, think and social inside and outside the office, creating a welcoming, modern facility that attracts today’s workforce. .
Studio G faced the challenge of updating an outdated property built in 1998. The property had a poorly defined entrance, an outdated lobby and no tenant amenities except for a neglected indoor pool. The two-year pandemic has also created challenges with design and client reviews being done remotely, limiting in-person visits during construction.
To establish a sense of place and identity, the exterior upgrades include a dynamic canopy structure connecting the two towers and entrances, with outdoor amenity areas where tenants can work, meet and gather. defined.
Interior work included a new lobby with green walls and various seating and meeting areas to enhance the building’s tenant experience. Tower 2’s Café offers takeaway food in the convenience of a large overhead door with access to the outdoor space. Adjacent to the lobby and café, the building’s Amenity Center includes a conference/training center, collaboration lounge, work area, and gaming area.
In Tower 1, the indoor pool has been repurposed into an 11,000 square foot fitness center with a yoga room, aerobics studio, free weights, weight machines, Peloton bikes, and an open gym area with treadmills. This expanded amenity delivers value to tenants by providing convenient, quality space that helps them maintain their health and vitality.
Design goals were achieved by providing tenants with a variety of options for where to work, meet, gather and play within a workplace setting. Future directions should include these factors as we redefine what creates a desirable work environment.
