About The Mediterranean Restaurant
In July 2022, Spanish-American chef Jose Andrés opened Zaytinya, a Mediterranean-inspired restaurant inside The Ritz-Carlton, New York. I was immediately impressed by the interior design of the famous Rockwell his group, which is a mix of modern and Mediterranean. The restaurant seats 140 on the street level.
bar area design
As I entered through the hotel entrance, I was greeted by a blue backlit screen behind the bar. It immediately made us feel like we weren’t in New York City anymore. The bar features two-tone blue glass discs based on the Greek “evil eye” amulet. The screen curves toward the ceiling, creating a unique three-dimensional effect that makes it the focal point of the restaurant. The bar counter is made of blue lava stone, and the surrounding floor tiles have an abstract theme of olives and leaves.
location settings
The color scheme throughout the restaurant is inspired by the Mediterranean, sprinkled with blues, whites and natural tones. Every table has mezze-style blue-and-white patterned plates, styled with cohesive linen napkins and old-fashioned double glasses. Williams Sonoma.

our review
delicious! The family style plate was more than enough for the two of us. We hardly even ordered dessert, but the lovely waiter said the Greek yogurt was great. And we agree it was great. I highly recommend eating here for lunch or dinner, or having a few tapas to share. If you like authentic Mediterranean cuisine, you will love this restaurant.
