Look No. 01 | Elegant four-poster bed
The Hilltop Estate project’s principal bedroom design features a light oak four-poster bed with a custom upholstered headboard for an elegant and relaxed look. The same blue tones are applied throughout the rest of the space, with a vintage-inspired area rug and a stunning floral motif on the toss pillow on the bed. I like the way you handled it. “The trick to making an asymmetrical side table symmetrical is to align the lamp heights,” explains Shea.

Look No.02 | Minimal Color Palette
For the Mountainside Retreat project, Shay and the design team incorporated the design of the primary bedroom based on the client’s desire to minimize the color palette throughout the home. Shea and the design team added elements of warmth and dimension with rustic grasscloth wallpaper to set the mood of the space and bring coziness and character. Light materials and furnishings layered throughout the bedroom design balance the room. Modern lighting fixtures are softened by an upholstered bed, some beautiful vintage accents, and, of course, the stunning mountain views that surround the home.

Look No. 03 | Cream shade
Nothing expresses peace and tranquility quite like a cream-on-cream bedroom design. “In designing this space, we wanted to stay true to the Californian aesthetic of neutrals, earthy textures, and overall softness, but we incorporated a few surprises here and there,” explains Shea. Look No.04 | Dark and moody

Look No. 05 | Using the Nook
In Episode 4 of Dream Home Makeover Season 3, Shea and the design team take on the primary suite, which aims to make many spaces work in one space. The bedroom design incorporates built-in window coves that are perfect for tucking in the bed for a cozy and warm feel, like a big hug at the end of the day. Organic touches like McGee & Co. Mendelsohn Millerhelps establish space as a naturally linked space.

Look No. 06 | A Touch of Dusty Rose
Perhaps the defining element of McGee’s guest bedroom is the dusty rose wallpaper mural by Schumacher that wraps the walls throughout the room.

Look No. 07 | Shades of Gray
Beautiful shades of gray blend perfectly in this master bedroom design in Park City, Utah. A tall upholstered bed is flanked on either side by light cream-white bedding and gray-toned nightstands. A tonal area rug sets the sleeping area apart from where you can sit and relax near the fireplace in the bedroom.

Look No.08 | Mixed Materials
Wood beams set the tone for this stunning main bedroom design, while large windows draw the eye to the shiplap ceiling. Shea and the design team used structured lamps, open nightstands, and some vintage artwork to blend modern and traditional elements into the space. The design mimics a quiet ranch setting in the mountains of Utah.

Look No. 10 | Embrace the outside
The home was a top-to-bottom remodel in sunny Southern California and had some great bones and views, but Shay and the design team wanted to create a more spacious and airy feel by lowering the ceilings. The client wanted the bedroom design to feel as calming as possible.Shea and the design team wanted to draw attention to the beautiful backyard view through the stunning black windows. With plenty of extra seating space, a few vintage layers, and a rich mix of textures, this bedroom design perfectly emulates a retreat-like environment.
