How to add decorative furniture feet to cabinet toe kicks with this DIY hack!
I’ve made so many small updates to our kitchen over the years, but this simple DIY detail is one of my favorites!
I love the look of furniture legs in bathrooms and kitchen cabinets. Add custom touches to make it look much more expensive.
You can also add these decorative “feet” where your cabinet meets a wall or another cabinet.
Instead of buying expensive legs for your cabinets or making them with a wooden jigsaw (a jigsaw is my least favorite tool…I avoid it at the cost😂), these wooden haunches I made some simple changes.

I found a haunch at home depot.
All I had to do was cut them to the height of the kitchen cabinets. Specifically, toe kick height.
I marked that measurement on the bottom of the haunch and cut it off with a miter saw.
I opened the door to a paint shop to get the right color for our cabinets.
Can you see my vision here? They are now the “legs” of the cabinet.
this can It will be a very quick project. Just paint and attach haunches. But I took one extra step to add a little extra time.
I wanted to keep the crumbs from going backwards (which would be a hassle to clean up there), so I added a block of wood to close it off.
I cut scrap wood at the depth of the empty space behind the haunches and painted one side the cabinet color.
Then I attached it to the base of the cabinet with a nail gun.
Wood glue or liquid nails will work as well (unless you plan to remove them). I checked the spacing before nailing. I made sure these back pieces were the correct depth so that the new legs would fit perfectly with the cabinet.
This small addition prevented crumbs from getting in the back, and nailing them to it from the front allowed them to be further secured.
We had to cut quarter rounds because we did this, but it was worth it.
To secure them, I nailed them from the side (where I can), through the cabinet from the top (it’s right above the rim of the cabinet so you can’t even see the nail holes), and through that little stopper piece from the front hit the
They’re not going anywhere!:
You can only see the joint with the cabinet when the door is open, so I didn’t add any decorative trim along the bottom to hide that seam.

I’m thrilled how they turned out! They won’t scream at you, but they add another detail to the kitchen that enhances the overall look of the space.

I originally planned to put the set under the cabinet where the stove sits, but I didn’t want it to get too busy. may do!
I used the end of a long set of cabinets for now.
I’ve researched a lot of kitchens with cabinet legs. They range from simple looks like this (just the edges) to having a set in each cabinet.
It depends on your taste!
I also added these feet to a few spaces in my house, but cut them out for a more modern look both Detailed ends of corbels.
I only spent $40 on this project. If you are good at jigsaws, you can make it cheaper. I preferred the thickness of these over what I could do myself. This method is also much faster.
If you have a standard toe kick at the end of your cabinet you can still do this, but you’ll need to have space behind the cabinet to see it from the sides or add a closing back. The realm, if that makes sense.
