Hermès Silk Scarf Shopping Adventure (Throwback from 2009)
This is how mine came to be…
I was at the Hermès store in Beverly Hills on Rodeo Drive some time ago (August 2009). I thought it would be nice to have a classic silk scarf to wear as a belt with a black dress, jeans and black pants. Chic preppy. that was my goal. Black gold and white…or that classic Hermès orange he might be the one.definitely riding sensation (I used to ride horses years ago…and sometimes I love to let horse things into my life and pretend I still have a horse lady). I knew what I wanted…I had a clear vision…focus…determination.

Well, just when the Birkin bag of the day arrived, I went into the store to buy a scarf. If you haven’t been to Hermès lately, instead of the famous Birkin waiting list, Hermès has launched a clever practice of releasing only one of these $10,000+ bags a day. . From secret storage at an unknown time. This Birkin bag “practice” routinely creates a very strange storefront hysteria, with super-shoppers flocking to stores in hopes of getting their hands on the leather purse of the day. Sold within minutes. Only 10 minutes to sell a purse over $10,000!!! Is it clever…a ruse…or magic…you decide?
Well, all I wanted was a Hermès silk scarf.
When I was talking to the Hermès woman at the scarf department, I received a Birkin. I was almost pushed away. A girl and her boyfriend, a middle-aged woman that everyone knows, an older husband and wife, and a tourist-looking woman (whatever that is) were all waiting… Drop $10,000 to see the colors and decide if they do. All eager, all breathless. It was then that I lost my mind. Completely distracted (much to my chagrin).

When I saw this Birkin bag purchase scene, I thought for a moment that I needed the Birkin of that day. My heart started pounding. My American Express felt like it had a hole in the not-so-chic Tod’s bag. for) Luckily, a young girl and her boyfriend who appeared to be the first in line that day scored the coveted bag. I didn’t even have the option to buy. what? why not? How did these people know they were here? How can I get it? Isn’t this fair? Why didn’t my note arrive? Why didn’t I know? All of this was racing through my head as the Birkin sailed out of the store and I was left stranded on his counter in a war-torn scarf.
Bewildered and bewildered, I continued my search for the perfect silk scarf. I had lost all feeling. I told the saleslady that I definitely want one, A more traditional Hermès scarf (you know what classic style oozes like), I felt a bit like a second class citizen and was very impressed at that point. A lady was here and all I wanted was a scarf for just $375, and the Birkin drove me insane.

So when the sales lady said in her best French accent, yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah Yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah don’t you know? is this a joke? Maybe she’s right? don’t know. I think it’s terrible. Oops, I shouldn’t even think that something about Hermès is terrible. If so, I may never know of Hermès. I said that this scarf is what I have this season.
don’t know? Apparently… yeah… yeah… don’t you see? Maybe buying one of these bolder scarves will make you feel like you know yourself, like a Birkin bag shopper. that’s right! Forget solid traditions. I go boldly. I am part of the “middle” scarf collector. I see… I see… Haha! “

About Hermès scarves
The scarf features a mishmosh of colors, patterns, themes, eras, flora and fauna, and half of a Native American man in traditional costume (note that the scarf only has half of this man please). Oh yeah, did we also mention palm leaves, tigers, and medieval horses?
So the scarf is mine. Worn once. I’ve tried it several times and it doesn’t seem to work as a belt either.

Am I missing something here? I think you know where I stand on this…if you haven’t by now I just call a spade a spade…I think it leans in the ugly direction …

To tie this into home decor…maybe we can save this one way or another. I never wear it, but can I frame it and make it a work of art? Hang it on the wall? Add style and panache to my home?!#$%^&… I don’t think so.

Story updates as of 2023: For those who want to know: I still own the scarf. Yes, I wear them sometimes too. It looks much better tied. A silk scarf is also nice as a belt. Styling with one pair Veronica Beard jeans and me chanel slingback shoes.
