Cottage gate with attractive cut-out design details
I was looking for some pictures for ideas for our new little backyard and stumbled across this adorable gate (and home) picture our family found on a walk in Seattle many years ago. That garden gate with cutouts of roses is very nice.
I’ve always been fascinated by cottage style gates – they are so charming! Giving you the feeling that there must be something very special (like a secret garden!) on the other side. I will give it to you.

My mom has a gate on the side of our house that leads to the entrance to my parents’ new cottage! I loved that the last house had a window cutout on the gate. There was a house in the neighborhood where my daughters lived when they were little, and there was a window on the gate too, I liked to walk past it, and I dreamed of what was on the other side. You can see it (and others!) in another garden gate inspiration post I did many years ago.
Even in the garden, there are many ways to add charm to functional elements. I am looking forward to working on our small backyard and transforming it into a cottage garden this summer.
