This beautiful DIY monogram planter went viral on Facebook with over 125,000 shares in just two days. Not only is the impatiens in bloom beautiful, but this monogram planter is also great for practicing compound miter saws.

First create the base or back of the letter. This was done using a 1×12 and a Kreg jig all together.
Assemble letter shapes

Attach all the pieces together using a klegg jig.

Next, attach 1×4 cedar wood to complete the sides. Make all cuts using a compound miter saw. Each piece is held together with brad nails and wood glue.

Next, we completed the inner planter slats using 1×6 cedar with a mitered back. Use brad nails to hold it in place at a 45 degree angle from the side. Next is his 1×3, “frame” letter trim for the front piece.

that’s all! ! It’s a bit complicated, but I made it like this: Detailed woodworking plans for many letters (and more to come!), we’ve made cutting as easy as possible.

Can I build it out of pine instead? Of course, if you’re a DIY enthusiast, you can always change the material. However, common pine boards (or plain wood boards) don’t last long outdoors and tend to be less straight than cedar and other expensive woods.
