Hello everybody!I’m Jennifer Zuri town and country lifeI ran to the store and picked up some houseplants to beat the waning cabin fever. I don’t know if the weather played a role, but I thought I could color the cute little ivy. …that’s why I made it Colorful and Crafty DIY Button Flowers brighten it up.
Now it looks fun and festive instead of boring and ordinary. Super easy to make and a great way to upcycle old buttons and dress up your plants!
This is what the plant I picked up looks like… pretty, healthy and green, but nothing remarkable. She needed a little color!
It’s so easy to make these little button flowers for this upcycled button project.
First, cut a strip of 26-gauge florist wire and thread it through one hole in the stack of buttons and then back through the other hole (use eye protection when cutting the wire). You can also use premade pipe cleaners if you don’t want to cut the wire (Hint: Use the green one to make the stem!).
Pull the wire taut, then twist it under the bottom button to the base. Then simply insert the wire stem into the pot and bend it as needed.
I also decorated the pot with decorative scrapbook paper and tied a rope bow for a bouncy touch.
Colorful buttons can be found at craft and fabric stores…or at your local thrift store.
Making button flowers is a fun and easy project and an easy way to add some color to your home!
