Deep in the Texas Hill Country, multifamily homes tower over a secluded grassy valley on the banks of the Frio River. The goal of this project was to create a haven with a unique environmental experience where the madness of summer gives way to the calmness of winter. The building consists of the main house, a meditation room above the art studio/garage, and two guest studio cottages. The main house and cottage are connected by a small footpath. The main building is divided in two by a hidden multi-sliding door called “Kazemichi,” so you can enjoy dining outdoors most of the year.
The new owners say the space is “cozy…but plenty of room and elegance.” It’s dark and moody… but bright and airy. ” Sounds like the perfect combination that can be easily adjusted to suit the mood of the moment (or season).by architecture and interior cappet kilpatrick.
