Last week I was in Portugal and was taken to see the cork harvest as a guest of the Color Flooring Company. We’ll talk more about that next week, but first let’s talk a little bit about the wonderful hotel we stayed in in Porto. The Cocorico is a converted townhouse with his 10 bedrooms and honestly one of the nicest hotels I’ve ever been to. It also inspired the theme of this week’s post, Rattan.
If you paid attention a few weeks ago, you may have noticed that I wrote about the difference between trendY and trendING. The former is what many fear when it comes to interiors as fashion changes and it is expensive and wasteful to keep shopping. However, there is a difference between it and the trendare doing This means that while materials, colors and textures go in and out of fashion, at the heart of it all remains a fairly classic material. Brass is one such example. Brass taps are trending, but they’re still classics when it comes to fashion. Rattan is different.

If you’ve been on Instagram, you may have noticed brands like: Folly Shamble, Anemone interior and in the United States, when, sells vintage rattan, often from Italy. Some reach investment prices, but most are luxurious (that’s how you say they’re not cheap).

At the same time, there is plenty of rattan on the high street, so you’ll probably find something that fits your budget. After all, even moderately priced high-street pieces can be vintage if you wear them long enough (20 years is the official count).

Here are some examples of rattan from my camera roll over the years and captured on Instagram this week. One is the styling work I did for La Redoute in 2019, the other is a chair I found in a charity shop and the aforementioned Cocorico Hotel and Hoxton in Paris where I stayed in 2018 and its courtyard. It’s a shot. It is still one of the most photographed photographs.

Then there are the IKEA chairs, which have been restocked several times and are still popular on vintage sites.current version Bascubo At £179, connoisseurs don’t like it that much. If anyone knows the original name, the key is to set up a Google alert for what’s for sale.

So where do you stand when it comes to trendiness and trends? Rattan can do it?In addition to the vintage sites above, be sure to check it out La Redoute Even if Cox & Cox and Rocket St George.
