Shipping company Ocean Network Express recently hired a workplace design firm ID21 To design our new office in Singapore.
“In honor of the company’s core business and brand identity, the reception features a reflective ceiling reminiscent of water ripples and a stunning showcase of living greenery and water glass walls, all of which combine to create a memorable arrival experience.”
From here, the journey splits into two main areas. To the left of the floor plate is the spacious and colorful Work Cafe, which also serves as the town hall area. Here, employees can enjoy a soothing ocean view while sipping coffee and conversing with colleagues, or finishing work before the next meeting. As the sun sets at the end of the day, hues of orange and yellow fill the space through floor-to-ceiling windows, and the self-serve beer counter comes alive with after-work conversations.
Upon entering, to the right is a viewing gallery where ONE can showcase branded content through digital platforms, while also providing a cozy and comfortable space for guests to relax while waiting for their hosts. This area is intentionally placed next to a series of conference rooms to provide smooth movement for visitors.
Beyond the back of the home, employees can choose to work from a variety of locations depending on their needs and preferences. The aim is to accommodate a variety of working styles, from private booths and window seats to hot desks in communal spaces. If you prefer a fixed desk, the option is still available. Lockers nearby provide additional storage for personal and valuable items.
References to nature are intentionally incorporated throughout the space to reflect the raison d’etre of ONE Green Office. In addition to the reflective ceiling features, live greenery and water glass walls at the front of the house, it also incorporates other features such as hanging plants, moss walls and decorative wood elements. Additionally, ONE’s signature magenta-painted zinc panels serve as a visual reference for the company’s shipping containers, while also serving as a signature wall.
A creative play with textures, materials and finishes combined with a bold use of color successfully designed and created a dynamic and vibrant workplace that not only accommodates a hybrid work model, but also positively reflects ONE’s commitment to creating a greener future for the shipping industry. ”
