Interior photographer David Giles has a great eye for design and certainly had a clear vision when it came to transforming a garage into a bedroom adjoining a dressing room. Traditional radiators, Art Nouveau light switches, William Morris fabrics, vintage furniture and Farrow & Ball’s ‘Cooking His Apple’ color scheme combine to create a period look and feel in the refurbished space. .
Our suggestion was to combine this scheme with furniture that creates ample storage space while maintaining a traditional style. Here David explains how the project to create the ideal bedroom storage exceeded expectations…
Tell details your vision for the space…
It was a garage remodel, so I completely changed the space and used a blank canvas to create something truly unique. The original garage was used to create a generously sized bedroom and adjoining dressing room. We decided that Fit Furniture would make the most of our dressing room, provide the amount of storage we wanted, and give us complete flexibility to design something unique for our space. bottom. Certainly no freestanding unit could create so much storage.
A clear design concept had already been drawn up and we wanted to line the walls of the dressing room with storage and place the dressing table under the window. The key was that the doors and color palette worked with this scheme. Anything too modern goes against the traditional character.
How did the design visit come about, and what concepts did you end up choosing?
The home design visit was very helpful in bringing our vision to life and seeing the CAD solidified our ideas for the space. The designer gave us great advice on space saving and intelligent storage, and we were very happy with the final design. We chose a Shaker Continental style door design to match the traditional style of rich clover green which complements the wall color perfectly. Inside, we chose a combination of full-length rails and drawers. We wanted to keep the finished look and feel of our fitted wardrobes very sophisticated and uniform, so we followed the designer’s recommendation by adding cleverly hidden interior drawers behind the cupboard doors. Incorporated.
Most of the storage in the bedroom was in the dressing room, but we wanted to make the most of the bedroom space as well. So I incorporated built-in cupboards and drawers in the same design and color to hide the TV nicely.
As you can see, the finished result is really nice. Clover’s Shaker-style wardrobe is a great centerpiece for a traditional design scheme, and finishes like brass handles and hanging rails really add to the final look and feel of the space. A TV cabinet is the perfect addition to your bedroom, hiding it behind a cabinet to keep it in style.
And the final word is how David sums up my snug bedroom experience…
I am very happy. The design is perfect, the finish and fit are perfect and after months of use the doors and drawers still work perfectly. The wardrobe makes the most of the space, I don’t feel like I need more storage, the unit doesn’t take up a small room, and everything works well. A storage issue has been resolved.
We are very likely to recommend My Fitted Bedroom. Installation was great and hassle free. He would like to give the installer 5 stars. They are experienced and professional and the whole project he completed in 2 days. Nothing was too much trouble and I was happy with the final result.
For those with limited space and storage issues, the bedroom’s built-in furniture is the way to go. My Fitted Bedroom is a great company, met my requirements, was easy to work with and provided a great product. It’s now my favorite room in the house.
