Engineering firm Arup recently hired a workplace design firm workplace To design a new office in Warsaw, Poland.
“The aim of this project was more than sustainability, it was regeneration. Human and planet regeneration. The project was interdisciplinary and brought together experts from different fields: neuroscientists, lighting. The neuroscientific guidelines for regeneration have been translated into an aesthetic language in line with the Arup brand, from the Opera House in Sydney to the Pompidou Center in Paris to the Sagrada Familia in Barcelona. With projects completed in 140 countries around the world, Arup commissioned Warsaw-based design studio Workplace to design the working environment.
Both companies share common values of a sustainable approach to architecture and construction. Arup’s office in Warsaw reflects this approach. It’s the result of a creative prototyping and scripting process. The result is a space that simultaneously supports the regeneration of employees and the well-being of the planet.
Sustainable future today
How do you create a new work environment that meets current and future needs? It required an open mind and innovative solutions. Workplace and Arup brought together dozens of experts, including neuroscientists and plant experts, to jointly create a new standard for office environment design.
Behind the scenes of the process
It all started with a desire to create a place that exemplifies Arup’s brand value. The research-oriented workplace explored the needs of Arup employees through co-created prototypes and future scenarios. With a focus on neuroscience, he turned to Impronta for help. Through careful research and a selection of scientific theories, guidelines for color, geometry, or lighting were defined and used in the design process. These are very important in creating spaces that are beneficial to the diverse needs of users. “
