The house was decorated by the previous owner in a very bland and neutral palette, with layers of white glossy paint hiding stone Gothic windows. Revealing the wonderfully golden hamstones hidden behind every layer of paint sets the tone for a strong and warm decor scheme. The opening between the rooms has been enlarged to allow the eastern morning light to flood the bedroom. The dressing room is lined with custom painted joinery with linen door panels to create deep window seating that flows above and below the windows. The bathroom design centers around the original refurbished Art Deco double vanity, combined with a separate water Monopoly bath under the window. In the entrance hall, custom painted panels were used to match different doors, windows, ceiling heights and door styles. Upstairs, we took advantage of a tricky underutilized roof space to create a teenage hangout.
I love that the original details have been revealed and maintained and the home has been modernized to suit today’s living.designed by studio besleyPhoto: Emma Lewis
