Nestled on a quiet street is a discreet slate-blue garage façade behind which stands an unusual courtyard house with industrial roots. This two-story home of his was designed to serve his dual purpose of a client’s home and work space. Creating a dialogue that connects the private and public zones was a major consideration when working on the design of this two-bedroom and his 2.5-bathroom home. We also focused on increasing the ease of movement between the multiple living spaces, which is made possible by the rotunda of the courtyard. indoors and outdoors. Private and shared blend seamlessly, with plenty of light and air. Each area in the house has its own design identity and is interconnected. Here is a beautiful balance of unity in a house with a courtyard.
According to interior design firm Melissa Lee, I couldn’t be happier with this home. Made to order only. I love courtyards and houses that are different from what you see from the facade.Photo: Alice Gao
